Job Summary

The R&D Engineer will lead high moisture food process development projects, focusing on techniques that produce products such as dips, spreads, condiments, and sauces. This role involves managing project milestones, collaborating with engineers and food scientists, driving quality improvements, and supporting trials and commercialization efforts. The engineer will utilize experimental design and data interpretation tools to make technically sound recommendations and influence cross-functional teams through strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

Lead process development for high moisture foods including dips, spreads, condiments, and sauces.

Manage projects and track progress against key milestones and deliverables.

Partner with engineers to define process designs and optimize process settings.

Collaborate with food scientists to optimize formulations and ingredient selections.

Drive quality improvements through process and thermal step optimization.

Utilize experimental design and data interpretation tools for technical recommendations.

Provide trial and commercialization support at manufacturing facilities.

Independently identify and organize resources for conducting experiments.

Apply basic analytical measurements such as moisture, pH, color, and viscosity (training provided).

Influence others through strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

B.S. degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Solid knowledge of heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid flow, and unit operations.

Good understanding of food science, food chemistry, ingredient functionality, and recipe development.

1-2 years of research experience in food processing and engineering and / or 2+ internship experiences in the food processing field.

Some knowledge of experimental design and product development.

Strong work ethic and self-starter attitude.

Outstanding teamwork and communication skills.

Strong organization, documentation, and project management skills.

Adaptability to change with personal leadership to influence and motivate self and peers.

Availability to work during regular working hours.
